On Thursday, December 11, 2025 I headed to Sacramento, California to the Old Ironsides bar. That night’s event was The Strains, Nick Oliveri, The Frank Meyers band, and Volume. It was a punk rock explosion indeed.
The Strains were up first, and they delivered a fantastic performance as they hit the stage. It was also Jamy’s birthday, and the celebratory atmosphere was palpable. The band engaged the audience with their rocking set, creating a full-on punk rock adventure that was phenomenal. At one point, Jamy lost a shoe but continued to play without missing a beat. Overall, it was a wonderful experience.

Next up was Nick Oliveri, a solo acoustic artist. His brief but well-crafted set was fantastic. He delivered his songs with unwavering dedication, and both his guitar playing and vocals were impressive. His acoustic guitar was adorned with numerous stickers that reminded me of something I would own. He concluded his performance by singing without the guitar. Overall, his set was tight and well-executed.

When the Frank Meyer band took the stage, they were full of energy. Led by their frontman, Frank Meyer, they skillfully and gracefully shredded through their short set. Frank showcased impressive control over his guitar, delivering an electrifying performance. The band played their songs remarkably well, and the keyboard player stood out, seamlessly switching between keyboards, mandolin, and guitar. His talent was truly exceptional. It was a fantastic experience watching them perform.

The performance was fantastic. They powered through their set as if they were on a mission. As they progressed, the energy became even more powerful. They truly rocked the stage, delivering a fabulous show that was simply awesome. At one point, the lead singer ventured into the audience, singing a song that was incredibly captivating. Overall, it was a tremendous show that exceeded all expectations.
Unfortunately, all the sets were short, but it was awesome just the same. I’m sure I shall be seeing them again soon.
