On Friday, December 12, 2025 I headed off to Sebastopol California and Hopmonk Sebastopol. The event was the Beat Farmers with support from the Gill Brothers band. What a fabulous show it was!
The Gill Brothers band always delivers an incredible performance. From the very beginning, they were on fire, jamming out their tunes and getting the audience rocking along with them. Their set was solid, and their energy was infectious. This talented group, consisting of three guys and one girl, absolutely shredded on stage. They put on a performance that truly dominated the night. It was a stellar evening for the band, and the crowd was fully engaged. If you haven’t seen them perform yet, make sure to do so. They are fantastic!

The Beat Farmers were up next, and they opened their set with “Reason To Believe.” Their performance was fantastic, showcasing their ability to connect with the crowd. They played a series of songs including “Bigger Stones,” “Gun Sale At the Church,” and “Blue Chevrolet,” all delivered with undeniable skill that captivated the audience.
The energy remained strong throughout the set, concluding just as powerfully as it began. After they left the stage, the crowd urged them to come back for an encore. The first encore featured the lively “Happy Boy” moment of the show, where they invited audience members to join them. Together, they sang, danced, and played the kazoo as part of an enthusiastic kazoo choir. This encore included two additional songs before launching into a second encore.
The second encore consisted of three songs, culminating in Dave Alvin’s “Marie Marie.” To everyone’s delight, they returned for a surprising third encore, performing two songs that wrapped up the night perfectly. Overall, it was an exceptional set!
