Toto wows the crowd at the Toyota Amphitheater in Concord California August 25 2025

On Monday, August 25, 2025, I traveled to Concord, California, to attend a concert at the Toyota Amphitheater. The headlining act for the night was the legendary band Toto, with supporting performances by Christopher Cross and Men at Work. What an incredible show it was!

Men at Work, originally from Melbourne, Australia, and now based in Los Angeles, kicked off the night. They began with “No Restrictions”, showcasing their trademark sound. The second song, “Can’t Take This Town”, written by Colin Hay, had everyone bouncing and singing along, setting the energetic tone for the evening.

They continued with “Down By the Sea”, which featured a fantastic drum solo, followed by “Overkill”. These two songs really set the pace for what was to come next. The crowd erupted with cheers when they played “It’s a Mistake”, and after some band introductions, they launched into “Who Can It Be Now”. The audience grew even louder with that hit, and rightfully so.

When they performed “Down Under”, the crowd went wild, and the band could feel the excitement. They delivered that iconic tune with a freshness that was as if it were their first performance of it. Smoothness washed over the audience like a tidal wave. Wrapping up their set, they concluded with their final song, “Be Good Johnny”, ending on a high note with an exhilarating performance.

When Christopher Cross hit the stage, the excitement in the air was palpable. He kicked off his set with “All Right”, which was a fantastic opening. That song set the perfect tone for what was to come, and the performance only got better with each track.

Next, he played “Never Be the Same”, a song that holds special memories for me and, I’m sure, for many other audience members as well. Following that was “I Really Don’t Know Anymore”, which showcased a reworked version for the live performance that worked out wonderfully.

The piano player then started the next piece, and his performance was stunning. The song was “Sailing”, which was executed flawlessly. Every element of the song was on point, and the crowd loved it.

The next song, “Think of Laura”, was particularly moving. It was written as a tribute to a 19-year-old friend who had passed away unexpectedly, resonating deeply with anyone who has experienced loss.

He then performed the title track from the movie “Arthur”, co-written by Burt Bacharach, called “Arthur’s Theme (Best That You Can Do)”. It was stellar!

Following that, they played “The Light Is On”, which featured a fantastic drum section, and then “No Time for Talk”. Both songs were exceptional.

As they began the final song, “Ride Like the Wind”, Christopher mentioned that Michael McDonald had provided background vocals for it, which made it even more special. They rocked it out without him, and it still sounded incredible.

Overall, it was a fantastic performance. I would definitely recommend it—10/10!

The last band to perform was Toto. They started as studio musicians but evolved into a powerhouse band. They kicked off their set with “Child’s Anthem”, which set the tone for what was to come. They were in full effect with their next song, “Carmen”, showcasing their jam skills and entertaining the crowd with class.

The energy surged when they played “Rosanna”, one of my all-time favorites and a true classic. Next up was “99”. There were rumors that the singer wasn’t fond of the song, but he admitted he couldn’t help but appreciate it. Regardless, they delivered a fantastic version that left the audience impressed.

Following that was the fan-favorite song for this tour. Every time they tour, they poll their fans to decide which song to include in the setlist, and “Mindfields” was the chosen one this time. It was a worthy addition. They continued with “Pamela” and “I Won’t Hold You Back”, both incredible tracks that resonated well with the crowd.

Next was “Angel Don’t Cry”, a standout song from their Isolation album that received a roaring applause. They then played “Georgy Porgy”, a funky number that got everyone dancing. “White Sister” followed, leading into the emotional love song “I’ll Be Over You”, which the audience truly enjoyed.

The band then performed “Still Loving You”, a powerful rock tune that was fantastic from start to finish, winning over the crowd. After that, they introduced the band members before diving back into “I’ll Supply the Love”, encouraging everyone to stand and sing along.

Upon finishing that song, they launched into “Hold the Line”, one of their best tracks, rightfully placed in the setlist and a refreshing moment for many of us.

Finally, the moment arrived when they introduced their pinnacle song, “Africa”, joined by Christopher Cross and members of Men at Work. They proved that even though the song is a classic, they still rocked it and performed it excellently. Overall, it was a fantastic show that they will have the opportunity to recreate again.
