Curse Mackey delivers a stunning set Upstairs at the DNA lounge in San Francisco California August 27 2025

On August 27, 2025 I headed down to San Francisco, California to the DNA Lounge. This show was upstairs, a smaller venue but, quaint. That night was on one of the stops on Curse Mackey‘s Electric Exorcism tour featuring Sine and Void Palace. This was an amazing show that, in addition to being there, the whole evening was simulcast on the internet for all to see.

Void Palace was up first. Starting with strong drum beats, the music kicked in, and both parties were on point. They had the dance floor moving and grooving. Their nine-song set served as just a warm-up, but for the crowd, it was a truly fantastic experience. The music had a dark and guttural quality that the audience embraced. It was enjoyable and easy to dance to, which was a plus. I’m sure I’m not the only one who looks forward to seeing them again in the future.

Sine was up next, starting her set with “Communion”, which energized the crowd. She entered wearing a veil, and under it, a mask that concealed her face, all wrapped up in a raincoat. As she transitioned into “Drugs”, she removed the layers to reveal a striking black outfit underneath. “Drugs” was a fantastic song, featuring a catchy beat that was completely danceable.

Next came “Jetset”, a darker track, but still a jam that captivated the audience. The music swept us away, while her vocals grounded us. Following that, she performed a remix of “Control” by LeatherStrip. This was a fabulous rendition, with its vocals pulling us in all directions, and she executed it flawlessly. Remixes can be challenging as they often embody someone else’s vision of the music, but she infused it with her own style.

Up next was “Dark Matters”. Despite its darker tone, Sine lightened the mood by joking about her microphone. Before the song, she mentioned that the battery was dying but assured us she had a spare one—which she proudly displayed, eliciting laughter from the crowd.

After that song, she announced that her album would be released next year and that the following two songs would be included. The first was “Succumb to Me”, an exciting track that had everyone eagerly anticipating its release. The final song of the night was “Trauma Bondage”. This banger featured an excellent drum track that had everyone bobbing and weaving to the music. Overall, it was a fantastic performance, just like the songs she shared with us.

Curse Mackey was up next, and with his goth-like appearance, he is a dominant force in the music community. His music certainly backs up his credentials. The set began with “Doomed for Monday”. It may have been Wednesday, but it felt like the song lasted that long! It was a powerhouse track that had the crowd singing along.

Next up was “Discoccult”, which was an incredible song. With its driving beat and fantastic lyrics, it had everything that makes a song great. From beginning to end, the crowd was fully engaged. Following that was “Dead Fingers Talk”, another killer track.

Then, Mackey performed “Submerge”. This song featured a melodic tune and a driving drumline, showcasing a fantastic performance. After that came “(Unknown)(What Monsters)” before he transitioned into “Smoking Tongues”. This song hit hard, although it might be the mellowest track on the list. Truly, it was a fantastic song.

“O’Blasphemy” was next, and it is my favorite song by him. The beat, the rhythm—everything about it is captivating. You could tell he was having fun performing it, and it is definitely a must-have on his setlist!

For his final song, he played “Secrets of the Resurrection”, which was wild. It was very listenable, yet it also featured powerful moments. That song was excellent, and with that, he said goodnight to everyone and thanked DNA Lounge for having him back. If you missed it, make sure to follow him and catch the next show!
