On Sunday July 21, 2026 I set forth to go to Sacramento, California. the event was to be Anvil at the Cafe Colonial but, due to a blown transmission, they were absent that night. In their place though, the opening bands put on an amazing show. The openers were Midnite Hellion, Slough Feg and Christian Mistress and what a show they played.
Midnite Hellion was up first, hailing from the state of New Jersey. They put on a fabulous performance, starting with “H.M.O”. “Cross the Line” was up next, and they shredded that song. They played it with precision and determination, which was right up the crowd’s alley.
The next song was Speed Demon” and the crowd ate that song up. It was a rocking tune that haunts many of us still. For the next song, “Army Of the Dead” they had the crowd surging forward and it was terrific. The crowd was really feeling this band and they responded well.
The next two songs were both covers. Starting with Megadeth‘s “Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying” and the illustrious Motorhead‘s hit “Orgasmatron,” both of which were stunning. It was wonderful hearing Motorhead live, so special thanks to them for playing that one.

Up next was Slough Feg, originally from Pennsylvania, now based in San Francisco, California. Starting off with “Marauders,” this band started with a bang and kept it going throughout the set. They were down a member due to an illness, but that didn’t stop them from slaying the crowd. For the next song, I didn’t get the title, but it was something like Spaceship 2000 or something like that. I guess only the band knows for sure. But it was an awesome song, and it was musical, though, and everyone enjoyed it.
The next one was off an album that came out 26 years ago called Down Among the Dead Men, called “Sky Chariots”, and that tune rocked our socks off. They were playing solidly, and the crowd could tell. The next song was called “Uncanny” off their 2019 album New Organon. That song was put together with a killer guitar solo and a catchy tune, making it a fabulous listen. After that song, they played three more before entering the cover of the Legends song “Wizard’s Vengeance,” and that was a huge crowd favorite.
And with that, they had one more for us before they said goodnight. “High Passage / Low Passage” was it, and it was awesome. What a way to end the set with passion.

Christian Mistress was up next, and they rocked. They’re from Olympia, Washington, and everyone was stoked to see them. Starting with “Voiceless”, that song set the pace for what was to come. With its tune and vocals, it was a stellar song. From that song, they went into “Black To Gold,” which was an impressive song. The crowd was into it, as well as the guitars screamed a solo out.
When they started their next song, “Desert Rose”, it was a fan favorite for sure. Upon the ending of the song, the crowd let out a huge round of applause. For the next one, they had some technical issues with the drums, which were quickly remedied. When they started “Demon’s Night”, the vocals stood out as the lead singer belted them out. The next song, “Myth Maker,” started with an awesome guitar solo before jumping into the song. He even got some applause as he rocked out. The song jammed as they worked through it. When they started “Mortal Heart”, a song that hadn’t been performed live before this tour. It was a fabulous song with a mellow guitar and vocals that gave us the shivers. It was an amazing song that is destined to become a staple of their set.
Following that song was “Pentagram and Crucifix,” which was rocking, and the crowd was right along with them. “Death Blade” was up next, and that song was insane as they rocked it. The final song of the night was “Violence,” and it shredded the crowd as they played it. It was a wonderful song, and the crowd was right there with them. That was to be the last song of the night, but the crowd wanted another one, so they blasted into “Stronger Than Blood,” and the crowd went wild. That song was perfect to end on. It had drive and power, and the band rounded up the crowd and fed it to us as a healthy meal. It was fabulous!
